We take cleanliness very seriously in our office and this philosophy extends microscopically to the insides of your root canal system! Root canal therapy begins by numbing the area around the infected tooth with a local anesthetic. Dr. Goldberg
then accesses directly into the root canal system, carefully removing the infected tissue and cleaning the canal with different instruments. The clean but empty root canal system is then filled and sealed with a rubbery filling material called gutta percha. A tooth that has undergone a root canal is more brittle and should be fitted with a crown to give the tooth strength. A crown equalizes the forces of chewing across the tooth, improves the appearance of the tooth and ensures therapeutic success by completely sealing and protecting the tooth.
